This cute family came and spent a week with us in Park City. They are total gamers, up for anything and everything. So, we tend to hit it pretty hard when they are here. This visit was no different. We did everything from hiking to Girl Scout Lake, paddle boarding on the resevoir, cliff jumping, backpacking, genealogy researching, lots of BBQing, mountain biking, and of course, back packing. Feast your eyes and again, let the pictures paint the story of our week. :)
We are off after gaining Aunt Mindy, running into what felt like a million obstacles which actually helped lead us to a way better route than originally planned. We almost ran out of gas, there was a fire and one of the roads we needed was closed, we had to stop for moose, and we turned around three times to find this trailhead finally. But, after following all the twists and turns, we made it and it and seemed like the right place to be. Phew. :)
So, when Evan was five and they came to visit, we did a bunch of hiking. We was all about it and I told him that when he was 10, we could go backpacking. He hesitated, and then asked if we could wait until his sister could come too. Sure, I said, thinking that those plans sounded SO far away. Well, here we are, just a few years BEHIND that actually. It was really special and amazing to make that conversation a reality.
We camped up in Naturalist's Basin. We stayed in the same camping spot for two nights, which gave us a day in-between to hike with just day packs and summit a ridge. The views were well worth the extra effort to get up there.
Oh man, and then the day we got back into the front country, Tina and John gave Chip a somewhat early 40th birthday gift! Hilarious!
