Like Family

It has been a while.  I have a lot of catch up to do so, here we go!
One of the most important things to Chip and I is our community.  We do not take this amazing place we live in for granted.  I am filled with gratitude for the amazing location and connections we are afforded.  We even do have some family that lives near by, however, since we live so far from most of our biological and/or married family, we love feeling like we have a lot of friends who are like family.
We do a lot of dinner/play dates. Here are Griffin, Ruby, and Owen enjoying Griffin's dress up clothes.

Abby joined us for a morning of fun- A hat jamboree and swimming!

We went tubing for the first time in Midway with Kirbys.  No really, first time for me, not just the kids.  It was a total blast! Check out the action packed video below.

Getting back up the hill was almost as entertaining as going down.

Stopped at the coolest coffee shop in Midway.  They have all these old cars, toys for the kids, and excellent coffee.
One of many trips to the zoo- this one with Abby and Eli. I think we saw every animal this go around.  Thanks for the motivation, guys!
We FINALLY made it to Little Cottonwood Canyon for a day of skiing.  We skiied Chickadee at Snowbird, enjoyed lunch in the sunshine, and took a ride on the tram.  Thanks for joining us, Kirbys!  We forgot our jackets...minor detail...not sure what we would have done without you. Yup- Ruby wore an extra of Greta's- wasn't even that small, and Owen wore Jess's puffy all rolled up.  Ha! :)

St Patty's Day!  We participated in the second annual attendance of the SLC parade with Kirbys (and Oma this year!) including a repeat beautiful walk through the city in the sunshine to lunch at Redrock.  Gotta love the luck of the Irish. :)

Oma's Christmas down jacket coming in handy again.  It was sunny but COLD in the shade or the wind.
The whole posse.

This is on Monday, the actual day of St Patrick. We were going to Kirby's for a traditional Irish meal.  It did not look like biking weather to me, but ever since we had a few warm days and they got their biking legs under them, anything is biking weather!  I choose my battles wisely, and this was just not something I needed to argue with.  They were safe, had fun, and posed really well for this photo so...go snowbikers!

This quote is so perfect to sum up this entry and to lead into the next few-

“You must remember, family is often born of blood, but it doesn't depend on blood. Nor is it exclusive of friendship. Family members can be your best friends, you know. And best friends, whether or not they are related to you, can be your family.”
