Our CSA is over. Lasted into October. So sad. I am going to miss these beets and all the greens, that is for sure. I did as much preserving as is reasonable at this time, but it could never be enough. These beets are so good, even Kessler could barely keep herself out of this bowl of goodness (see her nose peeking in the corner).
The leaves blow my mind every year. And this year was no exception despite low water and hot temps this summer. Ruby and Owen thought it was pretty magical as well.
We have been really into shadows lately. Can't believe we got them all together here!
Ruby is trying to step on her shadow. Love this hat I found at a neighbor's garage sale in the free pile.
As of September, Ruby and Owen go to "school" at Ms Terri's twice a week while I try to work at my private practice. Here are a few pictures of us on our local Moose Moss Trail for a little hike after their first day.
It was a leisure hike- we took breaks- talked about the day- rubbed the stress out of our eyes...you know. They love school and are well adjusted at this point. After missing a week of attendance because we were out of town, they RAN through the door to say hello to everyone and check everything out again. I was expecting crying and a little regression...but not here. Phew. Thank goodness. Mom can't take much of the crying when being left thing.
Ruby walking Kessler (her new favorite thing to do on our walks) in her sick hat.
We go to the zoo quite often. We are members....never thought I would say that. I know, this is just the beginning of the things I will do that I never imagined I would when it comes to kid and family stuff. The list seems to grown daily.
We love the "raffs".
Daisy's apparently bloom in Summit Park into October. Chip captured this artistic view of one of the many we enjoyed inside and out throughout the summer.
Ruby is all about hats. She and I share this one. It is so cute when she wears it to paint in. She looks like a French artist (pronounced are- tist- long i).
Another hat- this one mommy made, but she shares with dad.
We get a lot of moose in our yard and neighborhood. They are about as common as deer were in Ohio....except that we know them. It the same handful that have roamed around for a few years now. We get to watch them grow up and sometimes grow racks. Although it took some time, Ruby and Owen can now identify moose as moose, both with and without the antlers. They will say, "Mommy, moose...no antlers." or "Moose, big moose, eating our tree...antlers!"
“Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile.”
